You Are Invited to a Free Smithsonian traveling Museum on Main Street Event!
The Sgt. York Patriotic Foundation in cooperation with the Fentress County Historical Society is presenting The Way We Worked. Fentress County is one of six counties in Tennessee selected to host a Smithsonian, Museum on Main Street Event brought to us by the Smithsonian Institute and Humanities Tennessee! This Free Exhibit will be hosted at Progressive Savings Bank 500 Main Street in Jamestown, TN 38556 from April 28 - June 2, 2012.
This momentous event consists of a main Smithsonian interactive exhibit highlighting the history of work in our Country along with a Companion Exhibit specific to Fentress County called “The Way Fentress County Worked”.
The Way We Worked is adapted from the original exhibition developed by the National Archives. It explores how work became such a central element in American culture by tracing the many changes that affected the workforce and work environments over the past 150 years. The exhibition draws from the Archives’ rich collections to tell this compelling story. We invite visitors to hear workers tell their own stories or view films of various industries. Interactive components convey the experiences of multiple generations of families involved in the same industry. You may visit the Smithsonian Exhibition website: http://www.museumonmainstreet.org/thewayweworked/index.htm.
